It was one heck of a party at the alice + olivia show, which was set up in vignettes at a downtown space Monday night. Designer Stacy Bendet (who herself regularly graces best-dressed lists) was inspired by the optimistic Fifties, and the clothes were happy, peppy and bursting with fun, as was the scene. The cocktails with orchids encased in giant ice cubes seemed to have loosened up the crowd.

Bendet took classic silhouettes, like a swing skirt, and made them modern – a bustier topper did the trick. The dressy stuff was best, like the coppery coat and dress combo or the swanky, shimmery sequin ballgown with matching bomber.
