Newtown residents rally for gun control after U.S. Senate shoots down bill

NEWTOWN - Newtown residents rallied today at the National Shooting Sport Foundation, calling for the group to stop opposition to new gun control laws.

The rally was inspired by the U.S. Senate's failure to pass a measure that would expand background checks for firearms.

Members of Sandy Hook Promise, a group working in support of stronger gun laws, say they are confident Congress will eventually enact stricter gun laws, as well as laws dealing with mental health issues and school safety.

The National Shooting Sport Foundation say the measure voted on by the Senate yesterday was flawed.
