Norwalk Economic Opportunity Now may be indefinitely closed amid financial woes
NORWALK - Officials with Norwalk Economic Opportunity Now are trying to determine whether the city's Head Start program will be able to continue operations next week despite a lack of funding.
Head Start has decided to suspend the group's administration of its early childhood program, prompting a protest Thursday night at Norwalk City Hall. The offices were open Friday, but employees are unable to say the same about Monday.
Officials say a Colorado-based organization has been awarded a contract to run NEON on an interim basis. Regardless, Acting CEO and President Chiquita Stephenson says more than 200 working families use NEON and need it to be open on Monday.
