Bay Shore car hits gas main with fire

Just before 10:30 am a North Shore Paramedic vehicle struck the gas service at 19 N. Clinton Ave. in Bay Shore causing a fire. The building was evacuated and the fire was quickly controlled by the Bay Shore Fire Dept. About twenty people were displaced due to the fire and the American Red Cross was called to help them there were no reported injuries. Firefighters had to lay hose over a car that was parked to close to a fire hydrant.
