An auto accident occurred at the intersection of Dutch Broadway & 238th Street in Elmont at 5:15 PM Thursday May 1, 2008. A late model Mitsubishi apparently lost control and struck a tree pinning the driver in the auto. It took 30 minutes for the Elmont Fire Department along with the MTA and Nassau County Emergency Services units to extricate the driver. The driver was transported in NCPD ambulance to Winthrop hospital in critical condition. Two Elmont firefighters suffered minor injuries during the operation. (Photos by Joseph C.
