Coram tot killed after TV falls on her
A 2-year-old Coram girl died after a 75-pound television set fell and struck her in the head, Suffolk police said yesterday.
Angelina Cook of 1037 Old Town Rd., Coram, was attempting Friday to retrieve a remote control from the top of the television when the accident occurred, police said.
Police did not say whether anyone was watching the child at the time of the incident.
The 25-inch television was resting on a microwave cart, police said.
When police arrived at the home about 7:30 p.m., they found the child unconscious with a serious head injury, investigators said.
The toddler was taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center where she was pronounced dead, police said.
Homicide detectives, who are investigating the incident, were not available Monday to furnish any additional information.
