Suffolk Officer Michael Bieber
JANUARY 2008
The Second Precinct has selected Officer Michael Bieber as its "Cop of the Month" for his initiative, perseverance and excellent investigative skills, which led to the arrest of four suspects and the solving of unrelated cases.
Officer Bieber was assigned multiple cases involving graffiti throughout the 2007 calendar year. These unrelated cases offered little or no leads, but Officer Bieber used a variety of sources to uncover information, including interviews with known graffiti artists to compare graffiti tags, reviewing security videos at local businesses and working with the school resource officer. Eventually these efforts led him to four suspects, each of whom was charged with a Class A misdemeanor.
Officer Bieber has been with the department since December 1995 and has received 11 department recognitions, two command recognitions, five Cop of the Month awards and six letters of appreciation.
