Suffolk Officer James Bebry
NOVEMBER 2007
The Second Precinct has selected Police Officer James Bebry as its "Cop of the Month" for his quick and skillful action, which saved a man's life.
On August 4, 2007, Officer Bebry responded to a call of a 59-year-old male in cardiac arrest at a hotel on Broadhollow Road in Melville. Officer Bebry arrived to find the victim lying on the floor, with no pulse or respiration. He immediately hooked up an oxygen kit and defibrillator, administered CPR and shocked the victim twice. The man regained consciousness, a restored heartbeat and sustainable blood pressure. He was transported to North Shore Plainview Hospital.
Officer Bebry has been with the department since September 2006.
