June 9, 2000: Yankees pitcher Roger Clemens struggled in the first game of the series at Yankee Stadium, allowing eight earned runs in the Mets' 12-2 win. Clemens served up a memorable grand slam to Mike Piazza in the game. It was Piazza's success against Clemens that began to sow the seeds of contempt which would crop up again in the second half of the season series.
