NY towns prepare for more rain after floods
JEFFERSONVILLE, N.Y. - JEFFERSONVILLE, N.Y. (AP) — Residents of Sullivan County in eastern New York are bracing for another day of rain after flooding earlier in the week.
Families are scurrying to clean up their homes before more storms forecast for Sunday hit the area. Heavy rains Friday caused road closures and flooding in areas already under water because of stormy weather earlier in the week.
Several townships in Sullivan County are under a state of emergency. In Jeffersonville and Youngsville, residents were displaced because of high water. Many haven't been able to return to their homes because of high standing water.
