Just over a week after the Seattle Mariners designated Jason Bay for assignment, the team announced his release Tuesday.

The 34-year-old former Met hit .204 with 11 home runs and 20 RBIs in 68 games with the Mariners this season.

The Mariners signed Bay as a free agent in December.
