Bill Whitaker joins CBS '60 Minutes' team

Bill Whitaker, a veteran CBS News reporter, was named a "60 Minutes" correspondent Thursday, becoming the second African-American in the show's history, after Ed Bradley, who died in 2006, Newsday's Verne Gay reports. A Philadelphia native, Whitaker joined CBS in 1984. He was lead reporter on George W. Bush's 2000 presidential campaign and Mitt Romney's 2008 run. He has also been a contributor to "Sunday Morning."
