President George W. Bush can consider having a shoe thrown at him in Iraq to be the highest validation of what we've achieved there ["Bush ducks as Iraqi chucks," News, Dec. 15]. Ten years ago an Iraqi journalist who threw shoes at a military official would most likely have been executed on the spot.
