The Tappan Zee High School Music Department has announced that senior flutist Melissa Aleles was accepted into this year's New York All-State Symphonic Band. Senior trumpeter Jordan Rinchiera was named as an All-State Band alternate.

Auditions for All-State ensembles take place every year in the spring and are extremely competitive. Of the many thousands of students that audition across the state, only 350 reach the All-State Festival. Both students performed level VI works (the highest level of difficulty) and received a score of 100.

The students will travel to Rochester on Nov. 29, where they will rehearse up to eight hours a day for three days with some of the nation's most renowned conductors.
