Too often lately, cars have been crashing through storefront windows and seriously injuring or even killing customers ["SUV hits shopper," News, March 31].
Isn't it time that the building codes in Nassau and Suffolk counties were changed to mandate that steel pole barriers or other bollards be required in new strip mall parking lots?
Existing parking lots should also be required to install these devices over time. This simple solution would provide a great deal of safety at a small cost to builders and owners.
