Letter: Belcher shouldn't be lauded
I have watched several stories on television and read several articles concerning the Jovan Belcher and Kasandra Perkins murder-suicide ["Video: Jovan asleep in car before death," News, Dec. 9]. They talk about what a great athlete Belcher was, and how he was a kind, generous and respectful person.
I'm not advocating the need to speak badly of the dead, but the media seems to gloss over the fact that Belcher is a murderer who killed an innocent woman and cowardly left behind a three-month-old child to live her life parentless.
What's worse is that broadcasters like Bob Costas try to make this into a gun-control issue, instead of leaving it as is: a cold-blooded, cruel murder.
