Assemb. Michael Montesano (R-Glen Head), who spearheaded an unsuccessful amendment to restore funds for the developmentally disabled, is quoted as saying, "We cannot pass a budget that provides aid to pet projects and gives tax credits to Hollywood, while leaving our developmentally disabled and their caregivers in the lurch" ["State budget gets approval," News, March 29].

That should have been Newsday's headline. Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo should be called out on his failure to protect the people who need it most. Everyone should know what his priorities are, because they certainly aren't what they should be.
