I'm so tired of reading comparisons of public and private workers ["Suffolk police pact raises lots of questions," Opinion, Aug. 16]. Only when the economy is like this do people like columnist E.J. McMahon start writing such articles. It borders on envy.
What McMahon fails to bring to the public's attention is that the economy is in bad shape because of mismanagement of money by the private sector. Chief executives ask for bailouts from the public while they receive lavish bonuses and vacations. The public worker is the middle class.
