The tragedy in Brussels cannot be laid at the feet of President Barack Obama [“Obama insensitive to Brussels victims,” Letters, April 13].
Belgian officials were apparently warned of threats but failed to stop the situation developing in their country. Their laxity contributed to the carnage in Paris. Moreover, the American citizens were not identified until days after Obama’s trip to Cuba was over.
Latin America needs the attention of its neighbors if it is to remain free from the threat of terrorism. The president spreading goodwill to these countries can only benefit the Americas. I hope he continues to focus on countries that can be convinced to be our allies in the future.
