So Cathy Young wants fairness for immigrants ["Welcome immigrants with fairness," Opinion, Feb. 19]. She wants us to think that illegal immigration, sneaking into the country, is not really that bad. She points out that it is a civil, not criminal offense.

A crime is a crime no matter how you try to water it down. When she came into the country, it was not with 11 million others. People who came here in 1980 learned how to adjust and speak English.
