I was very happy to see the Long Island Rail Road finally embracing technology with e-ticketing ["LIRR e-tickets on horizon," Editorial, Sept. 2]. It is gratifying to see that the LIRR is overcoming the technological hurdles to accomplish this.

While the LIRR is obviously moving forward at light speed, I'm wondering if it could once again embrace technology to provide us with air-conditioned cars in the summer, sufficient cars so that people don't have to stand for entire trips, and a transportation method that actually operates in the rain?
