What a breath of fresh air! The Nov. 20 news story “Bagfuls of local pride” didn’t turn out to be about students protesting. Instead it was about 700 student volunteers from Hofstra University helping residents in two neighboring communities with fall cleanups. They carried rakes and trash bags, vowing no leaf would be left behind.

Kudos to these volunteers for putting their energy to good use.
