As I read about the $120-million renovation for the Long Island Rail Road station in Hicksville, I didn't see any reference to free parking [" 'Bright and modern' plans for Hicksville hub" [News, Feb. 24].
The changes will look nice, but it will still be a very big hassle to find a convenient parking space near the station, unless you pay.
It seems time to give us commuters a break. It's enough to pay this parking fee, as well as the ever-increasing fare on a rail system that has not improved the hourlong travel time from Hicksville to Penn Station.
My vote is to save the money or put it toward lowering fares, reducing our taxes or negotiating a deal with the Broadway Mall to allow free commuter parking.
