Regarding the letter writer who is asking where all the "fans" were when the bond proposal was handily defeated for a new Nassau Coliseum ["Everybody's an Islanders fan now," May 9].

We all love to see the Islanders play well and make the playoffs. It's great for Long Island. But asking taxpayers who pay an astounding amount of money for schools and everything else to help fund a rich man's play toy, you gotta be kidding me! I'm really sorry to see the Isles go, but this is squarely on the politicians.
