It make sense that Long Islanders favor a ban on assault weapons ["Gun control wins backing on LI," News, Jan. 13]. Anyone with children can empathize with the families of the Sandy Hook tragedy.
The Second Amendment does not define arms. Could it mean machine guns, grenades or any other infantry weapons? Where does it end? This is where logical and cautious thinking must prevail and the safety of the public must be paramount.
