Letter: Living 'on' LI, not 'in' it

Travel deals

I cringe every time I watch the "I Love NY" ads for Long Island vacations, paid for by the Empire State Development Corp. People live "on" an island, not "in" Long Island.

When "Everybody Loves Raymond" was on TV, the show had to correct the introduction, from the Barones living in Long Island to the Barones living on Long Island.
