I applaud Newsday's efforts to bring attention to film-industry activity on the North Shore of Long Island ["LI's ready for its close-up," News, Nov. 19]. Local communities have eased their once-too-stringent restrictions, and that has played a major role in the increase of production days.

However, I want to add that Nassau County's viability as a filming location for movies, television and commercials begins with a film-friendly county executive. County Executive Edward Mangano's support of the industry has been a boon to Nassau County. Among his actions, the county executive began Film Friendly Nassau County Location and Studio tours three years ago, and they have been highly successful in highlighting the incredible locations that Nassau County has to offer.
