No opportunity to vote on Foley closure

The people of Oyster Bay are lucky that they were given the opportunity to vote ["Town to vote on fate of $32.5M land sale," News, Aug. 20].

Suffolk County lost the vital services of the John J. Foley Skilled Nursing Facility, but residents did not have the opportunity to vote on that issue. Now that county asset sits empty and abandoned -- helping no one, serving no one and no one is being held accountable.

This injustice was chosen for us! Whatever the outcome in Oyster Bay, the people have a voice and a choice.
