We have many bank-owned, foreclosed houses on Long Island and elsewhere. The banks could profit by having these empty houses occupied and at the same time receive some rent, either paid directly by the families displaced by Sandy, or by the Federal Emergency Management Agency temporarily. The displaced families, who are now homeless, would have a place to live while their homes are being rebuilt.
