A Feb. 7 editorial cartoon appears to equate cigarettes with high-calorie foods. A letter writer asks: Are high calorie foods addictive ["Cigarettes, junk food aren't equal," Letters, Feb. 18]? In fact, they can be. Can your quest for them be controlled? Not usually. Does your health problem that results have a high mortality probability? Absolutely!
I guess the letter writer is not aware of obesity in this country.
