How does a state legislator claim more than $14,000 in travel expenses for times when the legislature was not even in session? ["$2M to travel," News, Jan. 30]. Assemb. Earlene Hooper (D-Hempstead) has ranked third for the past three years in reimbursement totals.

Doesn't anyone in government find this suspicious? Is anyone in state government or the Nassau County district attorney's office auditing her official travel and per diem claims?
