Letter: Why aren't Islanders paying rent?

The New York Islanders and Nassau Coliseum's management

Photo credit: Newsday / J. Conrad Williams Jr. | The New York Islanders and Nassau Coliseum's management company, SMG, owe Nassau County as much as $3.8 million in unpaid rent, utilities and other expenses for the Coliseum dating back to at least 2011, records show. (Oct. 24, 2012)

How is it that the New York Islanders and Nassau Coliseum's management company owe as much as $3.8 million in unpaid rent, utilities and other expenses back to 2011 ["You owe millions," News, March 3]?

How are they allowed to continue operations, when Long Islanders with the same unpaid bills would face eviction and cancellation of their utilities?
