Letter: Yaphank skeet range and noise

After reading "Southampton nixes gun range during school day" [News, Dec. 28], I need to point out another shooting range, Suffolk County Trap, Skeet & Sporting Clays, has been an unrelenting nightmare for Yaphank residents.
This range exists a mere 30 feet from the nearest home. After it was closed for five years, former Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy allowed it to reopen. In fact, noise studies commissioned by Suffolk County found decibel levels that would violate Brookhaven's noise law.
