The religious have long since stopped preaching the existence and fear of the devil and his disciples on Earth. But, how else can we explain the heinous act of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooter?

William Adams Littell, Moriches

This event is hopefully a tipping point for our American culture. After years of teacher-bashing from politicians, taxpayers, editorial boards and school boards, teachers are being praised as heroes for saving the lives of innocent children. There aren't any teachers in any classroom in this country who wouldn't take a bullet for any child in their classroom. It is just part of the job that is overlooked by most people.

We shouldn't need a crazed gunman to open our eyes to the heroes in front of our classrooms.
