Our fifth-grade reality check

When choosing the reality shows for this survey, we picked the ones that we think kids would watch at home with their families. We chose "American Idol" and "The Voice," which are singing competitions; "America's Got Talent," where people compete for the best talent; "Cake Boss" and "Cupcake Wars," where people compete for the best baked goods; "Survivor," where people compete to survive on a deserted island; and "Toddlers and Tiaras," where kids compete in a beauty pageant.

At our school, the three top reality shows among fifth- graders are "American Idol," "America's Got Talent" and "Cake Boss." Our survey found that a lot of the students liked the shows where there was a lot of singing. We tallied up our results and found that 50 kids like "America's Got Talent," 40 liked "Cake Boss" and 32 liked "American Idol." (At Bayview, we have a talent show and we all love to be a part of it and show off our talents. )
