A Haverstraw man was hospitalized Wednesday with a serious stab wound allegedly inflicted by his son, the Haverstraw Police Department said.

Officers were called to 178 Broadway at 5:52 p.m. for a report of a fight and found the victim bleeding heavily from a stab wound to his arm, cops said.

Neighbors said the argument escalated and both men had their voices raised before things turned violent. A woman who lives next door told News12 she happened by while the father and son were arguing and stayed with the injured father until paramedics arrived. She declined to give her name.

The injured man, she said, "had blood gushing everywhere. We just gave him a towel and helped him."

Both the father and son were brought by ambulance to local hospitals. Police said they don't believe the father's injuries were life-threatening, and the son suffered minor injuries. Cops didn't provide identifying information for either man and did not say where they were hospitalized.

Police said Wednesday night they're still looking into the fight and haven't filed charges.
