Police, school officials warn public after 'stranger-danger' incident near KT Murphy Elementary School in Stamford

STAMFORD - Police and officials from a Stamford elementary school warned the public today following a "stranger-danger" incident.

Officials at KT Murphy Elementary School say a man reportedly offered candy to a student who was walking to school at around 8 a.m. Thursday. They say the student ignored the man and walked directly to school.

Police say the suspect is a white man older than 30 with a gray beard and mustache. They say he wore a red winter hat with stripes, gray shorts, sneakers, a gray jacket and a red scarf.

Anyone with information is asked to call Stamford police.
