TARRYTOWN - Police are working to unravel the details surrounding the death of a Mercy College student who was shot in the head at a luxury Tarrytown townhouse on Labor Day.

Authorities say Meghan Bookstaver, 23, was shot while she, her boyfriend and another friend were looking at guns inside the home. Police say it is unclear who fired the fatal shot. They are awaiting a ballistics report and autopsy results.

Police recovered several guns from the bedroom where the incident occurred. Police have ruled out suicide in the fatal shooting and continue to call Bookstaver’s death suspicious.

Her boyfriend, Robert Gualin, is the son of a Manhattan entertainment lawyer and has not yet spoken to investigators about the incident, opting to seek the counsel of an attorney.

The other male in the room at the time of the incident, who has not yet been identified, has spoken to investigators.

Neighbors of the West Main Street townhouse say Robert Gualin has not yet returned.
