Town of Poughkeepsie police are investigating a Wednesday night drugstore robbery, police said.

A man entered the store and went to the pharmacy section, where he threatened to use a weapon and demanded medicine from the pharmacist, Lecomte said. He fled on foot after getting a quantity of medicine, said Lecomte, who declined to specify which type or how much.

It was unclear whether there were any other witnesses, Lecomte said.

The suspect was described as white, about 5-feet-8, in his late 20s or early 30s, with scruffy facial hair of undetermined color, Lecomte said. He was wearing a dark knit hat and a tan or brown coat Wednesday. The coat possibly had a camouflage design.

Anyone with information on the robbery can call town police at 845-485-3666 or leave a tip at TownPolice.net.
