Power restored in New Rochelle following fire

A Con Edison spokesman says some sort of electrical problem is to blame, though officials don't yet know how the fire began.

NEW ROCHELLE - Con Edison crews worked through the night to restore power to nearly 300 homes in New Rochelle after a transformer fire on the Hutchinson River Parkway yesterday.

The fire near the North Avenue exit had also temporarily closed the northbound lanes on the Hutchinson River Parkway. New Rochelle's police and fire departments quickly contained the fire.
