Precious, a 5-week-old kitten, survives toss from 3rd-floor window in Yonkers
A 5-week-old kitten named Precious is recovering after being thrown out of a third-floor window Sunday during a domestic dispute in Yonkers.
Yonkers police found the injured kitten on the concrete outside 217 S. Waverly Ave. when they were called to the scene of a domestic dispute involving a man and his ex-girlfriend.
Police are looking for Craig Morejon, 42, in connection with the incident. An arrest warrant has been issued for him on charges of third-degree assault and animal cruelty, misdemeanors.
The black-orange-and-white tabby suffered injuries to her mouth as her upper teeth went through the bottom of her mouth, said Ernest Lungaro, the head of the SPCA of Westchester's Humane Law Enforcement Division.
But Precious was somehow able to right herself during the fall and landed on her paws, the SPCA said.
Morejon fled the scene before Yonkers police or SPCA investigators arrived.
The kitten is in good health and has been returned to her owner, SPCA spokeswoman Lisa Bonanno said.
Yonkers police and the SPCA ask anyone with information on the whereabouts of Morejon to call police at 914-377-7777 or the SPCA's animal cruelty hotline at 914-941-7797.
