Teens for Jeans: Help the homeless while updating your closet
Thanks to Aéropostale, teens can start the new year with a clean closet and a clear conscience.
The brand is teaming up with DoSomething.org to encourage teens to turn in their unwanted jeans for those who really need them.
From Jan. 14 to Feb. 10, teens who drop off gently worn jeans in any size and brand at Aéropostale and P.S. from Aéropostale stores will receive a 25 percent discount for each pair donated to put toward the purchase of a new pair. The donated denim will be given to shelters for homeless teens in each store's community.
An estimated 1.7 million teens are homeless, and the top item they request is a pair of jeans, according to DoSomething.org. The Teens for Jeans project has collected more than 2.5 million pairs since 2007.
Schools can get involved by hosting a jeans drive, and the school that collects the most will win $10,000 and school spirit Aéropostale hoodies for every student.
Aéropostale or P.S. from Aéropostale stores can be found at Roosevelt Field in Garden City, Broadway Mall in Hicksville, Sunrise Mall in Massapequa, South Shore Mall in Bay Shore, Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove, Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream and the Tanger Outlets in Riverhead.
