SPRING VALLEY - A small protest was held outside the East Ramapo School District's administrative offices Friday, in support of a former high school teacher who says school staff discriminated against him.

Mushtaq Ahmad taught chemistry at Ramapo High School more than seven years ago. He claims his colleagues took away his key to the school's chemical room, despite being a teacher who needed chemicals to do demonstrations in class. He also claims staff members said he could not be trusted because he was a Pakistani Muslim and "could be a terrorist."

Ahmad filed a lawsuit against the school, which was dismissed by a judge last month. Ahmad and his supporters plan on protesting each Friday at the district's offices for the rest of the year.

East Ramapo School District administrators either were not available or refused to comment on the case.
