YONKERS - The two candidates vying to be the next City Council president battled it out today at a Yonkers Chamber of Commerce debate.

Former Republican City Councilman Liam McLaughlin squared off against Democrat Michael Rotanelli on issues such as the economy, crime, affordable housing and education.

McLaughlin served for 10 years and had to leave City Hall because of term limits.

Rotanelli had an unsuccessful run for City Council, but the Democrat has been a business owner in Yonkers for 45 years.
