Rockland County police step up security for Jewish High Holy Days of Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur

SUFFERN - Police in Rockland County are on heightened alert tonight as millions of Jewish people begin celebrating the Jewish High Holy Day of Rosh Hashana.

Rockland County Sheriff Lou Falco says police will make extra stops during the holidays at schools synagogues and anywhere else the faithful gather.

The High Holy Days last through next Saturday. The holiest days of the season are Wednesday night through Friday night for Rosh Hashanah, and next Friday and Saturday for Yom Kippur.
