A collision between a car and a school bus carrying five Peekskill students and a bus monitor caused minor injuries to six people Monday morning, Peekskill police said.

The crash occurred about 7:30 a.m. Monday at Union and Hudson avenues, said Yorktown police Lt. Eric Johansen. A car being driven eastbound on Hudson by a 17-year-old girl collided with the bus heading north on Union Avenue, on its way to the Yorktown BOCES Technical Center.

Neither driver was injured, but the five students and bus monitor were taken by ambulance to Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortlandt Manor with minor injuries, Johansen said.

Police are investigating the possibility that the teen driver ran a red light because of glare from the morning sun, according to Johansen.

The collision had no major effect on traffic in the area. "It was cleared rather quickly," Johansen said.

No tickets have been issued and the investigation is continuing, according to police.
