If you've recently seen a film at a local multiplex, chances are your preshow entertainment involved coming attractions, a commercial or two and a warning/ plea to respect your fellow audience members – as in not using cellphones, speaking out loud or doing anything else that might interrupt the presentation to come. And as most among us would confirm, all too often this appeal tends to be ignored.

On the other hand, if you would absolutely love to have people not only talk throughout a movie, but yell, gesture, sing and actually stand in front of the screen, one Island hall has just the ticket for you.

For those too young to remember, there was a time when certain LI movie houses would regularly show unusual or “so-bad-it’s-good” motion pictures late at night, usually on weekends – and of these “midnight movies,”  "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" (RHPS) is widely considered the ultimate.

Although a financial flop when first released in 1975, once the "Show" graduated to midnight movie status it became an iconic experience. At most showings, the film (a strange and highly sexual send-up of old horror and sci-fi cinema) was enhanced by live performers dressed as RHPS characters as they acted out and parodied the film as it ran.

Although hosted showings of RHPS can be currently found elsewhere in the country, Long Island auditoria have virtually ceased them. But on April 26, the Suffolk Theater in Riverhead is showing the film – and it will be fleshed out in true midnight movie fashion.

Starting at 8 p.m., guests can enjoy an RHPS screening accompanied by a special appearance from some of the Unconventional Conventionalists, a shadowcast group specializing in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." (According to the Conventionalists website, audiences are always invited to participate – but there are strict rules and guidelines; visit rockyhorrorfan.com to get the scoop on how to contribute fluidly.)

Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; an a la carte menu will be available. Tickets are $15; for more information and to purchase, head online to suffolktheater.com.
