If The Wobbly Olive in Hauppauge was a destination for your dining or nightlife purposes, you can still head over to 160 Adams Ave. for those purposes -- just be ready for some changes, starting with the name. After renovations the venue (since the second week of March 2012) is now known as Barringtons.

The changes aren’t overwhelming; instead the focus seems more on an upscale attitude adjustment. The main floor -- still sunken and bordered by a room-length tavern nook -- also remains set with tables that can be moved for the DJ nights and live music (the entertainment schedule is yet to be finalized) that will use the stage for such performances.

However, the key change is the addition of the Sapphire Club event room. Hued in blue (thus the “sapphire” tag), this section is mostly separated from the rest of the establishment with a floor slightly elevated above the rest of Barringtons and doorways armed with curtains to accommodate private or VIP activities. This side space will be available for evening happenings as well, and there are several large flat screen TVs and a bar. To further aid in the division between Barringtons and Sapphire Club, there are two different menus for each (with the Sapphire edibles the more contemporary and expensive option) as well a $12 martini selection that features such mixes as a pomegranate choice (citrus vodka, pomegranate liquor, triple sec, splash of pomegranate juice), a “sweet tea” (sweet tea vodka, lemonade, lemon garnish) and a “Bikini Martini” (coconut rum, vodka, pineapple juice, splash of grenadine, orange garnish).

Another change will be in the hours, as in the past The Wobbly Olive would hold many a last call until close to 4 a.m.; Barringtons is likely to close the doors around 2 a.m.
