Although it only first opened its doors last Thursday, The Arden in Port Jefferson is already making a serious nightlife splash.

A new bar, club and restaurant, it’s located in the second-story space previously belonging to the now-defunct Port Jazz — and its owners have done more than just take over the location, as heavy renovations have been made inside and out.

The Port Jazz scheme...

Only a month ago, a party known as Liquid had returned to the Woodbury Country Club after a four-year absence with a goal of giving the Island’s mature crowd a fresh summer nightspot -- but now that intention is already expanding to include younger area clubgoers as well.

The original 2010 edition of Liquid was a basic mix of poolside socializing and DJ sessions held in Woodbury on warm-weather...

Although the facts are probably not necessary to use in order to directly entice locals into viewing the classic movie "Jaws," the 1975 killer great white shark thriller does happen to have direct connections to Long Island.

For example, it is a widely-held belief that author Peter Benchley was inspired by the late Montauk shark hunter Frank Mundus when penning his "Jaws" novel that Steven...

Ordinarily, an attempt to hang out past midnight inside Eisenhower Park would suggest errant, if not deliberately illicit behavior -- but there are actually 10 legally-sanctioned late-night occasions scheduled to occur there before the summer of 2014 concludes -- each of which being an intended exercise in upscale nightlife.

Thursday, June 12, is the kickoff date for the “10 on the Park” party...

While it's true that much of Long Island's late-night summer-season fun is to be found on or near the coastline, it turns out one of LI's most successful and long-lived get-togethers is completely landlocked within eastern Nassau County.

Back for a 15th year – an impressive age for any recurring event to reach when you consider the capricious nature of nightlife -- Carlyle on the Green’s warm...

Some of the eclectic decor to be found

(Credit: Ian J. Stark)

You may not be acquainted with Suite 1828, one of LI’s newest pubs, but its location (and former persona) should be memorable for many of Nassau County’s frequent South Shore commuters.

During the past decade, anyone driving down Sunrise Highway in Merrick during late afternoons and evenings likely couldn't help but notice Jugs-N-Strokers, a biker bar that was formerly the long-running identity...

(Credit: John Pandolfo)

With all the LI pubs, clubs and lounges that regularly employ DJs and bands for warm-weather events, it’s easy to assume that an ideal description of local, summer fun could include the desire to spend an evening enjoying music in an outdoor setting. But then again, it’s not hard to imagine that life leaves little time to dance under the stars for some people.

For those in such a situation,...

Cinco de Mayo 2014 on Long Island

When it comes to holidays that inspire bars, clubs and other nightlife-friendly spots to throw special events, Cinco de Mayo is a generally solid occasion for celebrations. But with the 2014 observance of the Mexican army's victory in the Battle of Puebla in 1862 landing on a Monday, it seems likely that the overall Long Island Cinco de Mayo party calendar will end up somewhat lighter than in previous...

With May right around the corner, some “may” feel it’s time to start thinking about summer-style fun -- and if so, keep in mind that a popular Hamptons dining spot and hangout just happens to be kicking off its impending 2014 warm-weather efforts this coming weekend by hosting a generous bash to mark the occasion.

Although it officially opened for the year back in March, Dockers Waterside...
