Seminar held to compare Indian Point nuclear power plant to Fukushima
MANHATTAN - A seminar was held today in Manhattan to compare Fukushima's nuclear power plant, which suffered a tragic meltdown in 2011, with Indian Point.
About 100 people attended the session at the 92nd Street "Y" as part of a series of seminars being held around the country.
Consumer activist Ralph Nader, one of the speakers at the event organized by nuclear power opponents, said Indian Point is a time bomb and needs to close.
Supporters of the plant say comparing the two sites is not valid and called today’s event needless fear mongering.
